Almost
every visitor to Esabalu becomes involved in a project during their two
week exchange visit in Esabalu Village. The projects have been as
big as bringing water or building a library and a clinic. But
they have also included many smaller projects too.
Past projects of Amesbury for Africa have included:
- Providing dairy cows to poor farm families through Heifer Project
- Exchanging teachers from Amesbury to Esabalu and from Esabalu to Amesbury
- A young film student making a documentary "Through Mzungu's eyes"
- Training of peer leaders at Ebusakami High School
- Teaching bicycle repair and organic farming to interested groups
- Assisting the "Gifted Souls Youth Theater" to perform plays about HIV/AIDS
Our philosophy is that anyone who wants can travel to Esabalu to
help with a existing project or develop an idea of his or her
own. Everyone who goes will bring back some experience from
Africa and can leave behind their own experiences. By doing this,
little by little, we can truly make a difference.
